Overview

The CAEN Mod.A1632H is a single width board (5 TE wide) that houses 8 individual floating channels, delivered through SHV connectors. The output voltage is 0 ÷ 6000 V with 100 mV set/monitor resolution. The maximum current value is either 100  µA or 20 µA with a 2 nA and 50 pA setting resolution, respectively.

Consult our connectors reference page for technical information.

The channels share a Individual Floating Channels, which allows on-detector grounding, reducing the noise level. A global enable/disable connector allows to disable the channels. The voltage ramp rates may be set independently for each channel and offer dual current ranges (software selectable).

The output channels offer dual current ranges (software selectable).

High Power 0 ÷ 100 µA I set resolution: 2 nA I mon resolution: 1 nA Max. power: 0.6W
High Resolution: 0 ÷ 20 µA I set resolution: 2 nA I mon resolution: 50 pA

Independently programmable for each channel:

Output voltage 0 ÷ 6 kV step: 100 mV
Current limit 0 ÷ 100 µA / 0 ÷ 20 µA step: 2 nA
HV Ramp up/down 1 ÷ 500 V/sec step: 1 V/sec
TRIP parameter 0 ÷ 999.9 s; 1000 s = Infinite step: 0.1 s

Safety features allows the module to perform as a current generator and includes:

Channels
can be enabled or disabled through the Global Interlock logic.
Remote Enable/Disable front panel independent contacts available for all channels.
Overvoltage and Undervoltage warning when the output voltage differs from the programmed value.
Overcurrent detection when a channel attempts to exceed the programmed current limit, it signalled to be in “overcurrent” and enter in a TRIP status. The output voltage is varied to keep the current below the programmed limit for a programmable TRIP time, then the channel is switched off. If TRIP is set to “constant current mode”, the channel behaves like a current generator.
Hardware VMAX maximum output voltage can be set, via front panel potentiometer, at the same common value for all the board channels. VMAX value can be read out via software.

Trip

Max. time an “overcurrent” is allowed to last (seconds). A channel in “overcurrent” works as a current generator; output voltage varies to keep the output current lower than the programmed value. “Overcurrent” lasting more than set value (1 to 9999) causes the channel to “trip”. Output voltage will drop to zero either at the Ramp-down rate or at the fastest available rate, depending on Power Down setting; in both cases the channel is put in the off state. If trip= INFINITE, “overcurrent” lasts indefinitely. TRIP range: 0 ÷ 999.9 s; 1000 s = Infinite. Step = 0.1 s
