Application Scientist and Technical Marketing Consultant

Location: Viareggio (LU) CAEN head office

Description
The successful applicant is expected to provide expert knowledge of products and applications to key accounts and provide clear technical documentation to clients and colleagues. The successful application will ensure the quality of final products and report customer feedbacks to the R&D Chief Manager. The new employee will refer directly to a Senior Marketing Manager and will be trained for an appropriate time to perform the necessary tasks.

Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Provide expert knowledge of products and applications to key accounts, with the goal of providing consultative scientific support
  • Assist the regional sales team in the development of accounts to provide customers with the scientific and product support necessary to accelerate the sales process, increase success rates of product evaluation and provide continued post-sale technical support
  • Availability to travel to work in the field, attending meetings with key customers, providing assistance with the evaluation of CAEN products, presenting scientific seminars
  • Respond to technical inquiries from customers received by phone and e-mail
  • Ensure customer service satisfaction and good client relationships
  • Ensure good quality of technical documentation, including Application Notes, presentation, guides and user manuals.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Physics or Nuclear Engineering
  • Excellent personal task management skills and a high level of self-motivation
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Fluent in Italian (written and spoken)
  • Excellent in English language (written and spoken)
  • Ability to:
    • Work effectively in a group development environment
    • Problem-solve effectively
    • Persistently drive projects to successful completion
  • Available to international travels

Preferential requirements:

  • Italian Mother language
  • At least three years of research in Physics
  • Knowledge of Gamma and/or X ray Spectroscopy.
  • Experience in physics experiments.
  • Experience in integrating electronic instrumentation for physics.
  • Knowledge of programming languages, C, C++, LabView, Python, Java.

Power supply hardware developer

The successful applicant will join the CAEN Power Supply Division as Hardware Engineer. He will be responsible for power supplies development for physics experiments installed Worldwide.

Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities 

  • Hardware design of high performance power supply boards (LV/HV) and systems according to the requirements specified by the Marketing & Sales Division. 
  • Simulation, testing and validation both in house and at various research centers around the globe, with the majority at CERN, Geneva. 

Requirements: 

  • Master’s degree in Electronics Engineering 
  • Proficiency with English language (both written and spoken)
  • Inclination to study analog circuits, with emphasis on switching power supplies and relative problematics (loop stabilization, thermal management, safeties, EMC, etc.) 
  • Able to work with microcontrollers in an acquisition chain (DAC/ADC) 
  • Good knowledge of CAD software for analog simulation (i.e. PSPICE) and development (schematics and PCB editor) 
  • Good knowledge and experience with electronic lab instrumentation 
  • Ability to: 
    • Work effectively in a group development environment 
    • Problem-solve effectively 
    • Persistently drive projects to successful completion 
  • Available to international travels

Power supply firmware developer

The successful applicant will join the CAEN power supply division as Firmware Engineer. He will be responsible for power supplies development for physics experiments installed Worldwide.

Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities 

  • Development of novel digital controls & communications for high performance power supplies working in standard or in hostile environments, using programmable devices (μC, FPGA, etc.) 
  • Simulation, testing and validation both in house and at various research centers around the globe, with the majority at CERN, Geneva. 

Requirements: 

  • Master’s degree in Electronics Engineering 
  • Proficiency with English language (both written and spoken)
  • Familiar with microprocessors/microcontrollers architecture 
  • Knowledge of emulator and debugging systems 
  • Knowledge of Real Time operating systems 
  • Experience in C, C++ and Visual Studio 
  • Multi-thread applications development skills 
  • Ability to:

Production Test Engineer

The successful applicant will join the Calibration and Test department and he will perform calibration and test operations on a vast variety of CAEN electronic cards fresh of production.

Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities 

  •  Perform calibration, test and validation procedures, troubleshooting, setup on CAEN electronic instrumentation

Requirements: 

  • Electrical/Electronic Engineer 3 yrs. or Technical School in Electronics
  • Proficiency with English language (both written and spoken)

  • Skilled in Labview
